Deidre Weiss’ passion has always been in law and in people. From a young age, she knew she wanted to work in the legal profession – something that hasn’t changed over her 20-year career.
She started out as a legal assistant after she earned her associate’s degree in a legal secretary program. From there, she took an internship at a law firm, which continued to stoke her love and curiosity for the legal profession. During her time as a legal secretary, she earned her paralegal certificate from the University of Florida.
Since earning her certification, Deidre’s expertise has contributed to various areas of law. For the last six months, she’s worked with Truss Faber as an independent contractor, gaining experience in construction law.
In a previous role, Deidre served as the Director of YWCA Hawai’i Island’s Teen Court, a program for juvenile offenders who have committed minor offenses that were tried by a true jury of their peers. Volunteer students and past offenders, guided by local law professionals, run the court, following jury guidelines to impose community service sentences that encourage youth to take responsibility for their actions by matching the consequences to their communities. During her five years there, she saw the program grow and recidivism decrease. The work combined the most significant pieces of her passion – law and people.
From there, Deidre worked across different practice areas, including personal injury and family law. Her past work lends itself well to building strong client relationships, streamlined case management, efficient e-discovery and effective litigation support.
Truss Faber is excited to bring such a well-versed paralegal like Deidre to the team and is looking forward to the impact she’ll have on their work and clients.
